Description

Witch Hazel is typically an alcoholic extraction from the leaves, flowers and barks of the hamamelis tree. It contains a mixture of 85-86 % aqueous witch hazel extract and 14-15% ethyl alcohol from organic cane as a natural  preservative. It is particularly beneficial for oily, sensitive and acne prone skin due to its gentle properties.

Witch Hazel Hydrosol (also called Witch Hazel Distillate) is a product of the steam distillation of Witch Hazel leaves and stems. Witch Hazel Hydrosol contains between 5% to 12% tannins, flavonoids, and catechins, to act as anti-inflammatories, anti-oxidants, astringents. It contains very  potent anti-inflammatories and astringents properties. Its anti-oxidants is up to 20 times stronger than Vitamin C and 50 times more powerful than Vitamin E. It helps to stabilize collagen and elastin.  It can be used in lotions, gels, and other treatments for cellulite or varicose veins to act as a venous constrictor that reduces tissue swelling while offering a cooling sensation. It can act to reduce swelling in eye care products, such as gels.

It is frequently used in products like after shave lotions, where it shows mildly styptic properties as well as helping to reduce razor burn and swelling through its cool soothing sensation. In skincare, Witch Hazel can be used as toner or in place of a cleanser.For oily hair and skin types, it’s an excellent inclusion at up to 20% in cleansers, toners, gels, and moisturizers to act as an astringent and anti-inflammatory.
