Carbon dioxide (C02) extracts are pure plant extracts produced when C02 is used instead of steam distillation or chemical solvents—such as hexane, heptane or ethanol—to obtain the purest and finest constituents of the plant. CO2 extracts typically contain more constituents found in the plant than just the essential oil portion.
