Description
Vanilla is one of the most recognizable scents in the world, and probably one of the most popularly used. The wonderful smell of vanilla is soft, creamy, rich, warm, and comforting. Unfortunately, 100% pure vanilla essential oils does not exist. Vanilla essential oil as popularly sold is either an oleoresin, absolute, CO2 extract or Vanilla infused oil.
Vanilla essential oil is technically not an essential oil, since it is not produced by steam distillation or mechanically extracted from the plant. The nature of the vanilla bean does not allow for the distillation process which produces essential oils. Essential oils are defined as those obtained from plants through steam distillation, mechanical processes from the epicarp of citrus fruits, or by dry distillation, after separation of the aqueous phase by physical processes.
Like vanilla, there are many plants that do not allow for the distillation process used to produce essential oils. Vanilla oleoresin oil, Vanilla absolute, Vanilla CO2 extract and Vanilla infused oils provide the ability to incorporate the irresistible, heavenly scent of vanilla into body care products to enjoy its uplifting scent. They can be used in lotions and creams, body butters, body scrubs, lip balms. They can also be used in massage oils for a sensual experience, as vanilla is said to be a natural aphrodisiac.
