Tranexamic acid, is a new widely used powerhouse ingredient for treating skin discoloration pigmentation, It is recognized for its ability to brighten skin complexion and improve the appearance of discoloration. It is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine. Tranexamic acid has a powerful anti-inflammatory action used to treat hyperpigmentation and melasma. It  reduces the production of melanin, which causes skin darkening and discolouration. In addition to controlling the production of melanin, it helps to calm the skin, reduce inflammation, and help promote the health of the skin’s natural barrier . Tranexamic acid is one of the few ingredients that pairs well with vitamin C ,  kojic acid, and other known effective skin brighteners like ferulic acid, and vitamin E . A few studies have found that tranexamic acid at 3-5%, especially in combination with other skin brighterners is effective in reducing hyperpigmentation.
