Titanium dioxide is an active ingredient in sunscreens, it works as a UV filter protecting the skin by blocking the absorption of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Titanium dioxide has a wide variety of applications in formulations, its applications range from soap-making, sunscreen, colorants, and more. It is commonly used as a physical sunscreen, an opacifier and even serves as a white pigment.
Titanium Dioxide is a physical sunblock that scatters and absorbs light. Sunscreens for sensitive skin or infants, often contain either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, This is because these mineral based UV blockers tend to be less likely to irritate the skin than other types of UV absorbing ingredients.
