Description

Polysorbate 20 is a solubilizer, It is a liquid emulsifier that helps water and oil combine. It is used to disperse little amounts of oils into water just like polysorbate 80.  However, compared to polysorbate 80, it is better suited for solubilizing essential oils and fragrance oils, while polysorbate 80 is more effective for carrier oils. Polysorbate 20 is ideal for use in room sprays, toners and liquid based products.

It is also recommended as an emulsifier for O/W systems and effective solubilizer for essential oils and perfumes in aqueous and aqueous/alcoholic systems. It is also used to add mildness  in detergent systems for tender skins such as baby shampoo and cleansing agent in wet wipes. It can be used in combination with a variety of other hydrophobic emulsifiers to cover a wide range of oil in water, and water in oil emulsion systems. On its own, it is an excellent solubilizer of essential oils, wetting agent, viscosity modifier, stabilizer and dispersing agent. Use it in the creation of linen and room sprays, body sprays and other products where oils need to be solubilized in water.

Common Uses/ Benefits

Use polysorbate 20 in  watery solutions like room sprays, body sprays, and hand washes where you need water and oil to combine, but it can also be used in a bath oils, lotion  preparations, shower gels, and shampoos to aid stability and solubilisation.

Polysorbate is used to disperse essential and fragrance oils evenly so they don’t separate out. Used in formulating Body washes, hair shampoos, hair loss treatments, lotions, creams, bath oils.
