Common Uses/Benefits

Oats extract can be used in skin care ingredient  to improve the feel properties of creams and lotions and imparts a soft, cushiony feel on the skin, giving it an almost velvet smoothness . Studies have shown that oats retain significantly more moisture no matter the humidity, and gain up to 50% more moisture at relative low humidity when extra moisture is most needed. The high concentration of starches and beta-glucans in oat are responsible for its protective and water-holding functions. The hydration of the skin is one of the most important agents involved in preserving the integrity of the stratum corneum barrier. Oatmeal is a good option for moisturizing of dry or sensitive skin. Saponins in Oat are mostly responsible for the cleansing activity of oat and makes a great cleanser, buffer, as well as a soothing agent.
