Liquid Germall Plus – Broad-Spectrum Cosmetic Preservative

Liquid Germall Plus is a highly effective, broad-spectrum liquid preservative designed to protect cosmetic formulations from Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and molds,  without needing any additional boosters. It delivers reliable antimicrobial performance at very low use levels and is compatible with virtually all cosmetic ingredients, making it one of the most versatile and cost-efficient preservatives available.

This preservative works seamlessly in cationic, anionic, and nonionic systems, and performs exceptionally well in water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions, lotions, creams, make-up formulations, and other high-pigment products. It is also suitable for surfactant-rich systems such as shampoos, shower gels, and conditioners. Not recommended for aerosol products.

Liquid Germall Plus should be added during the cool-down phase,  at 40°C (104°F) or below,  as higher temperatures can compromise its efficacy.

Technical Details

INCI: Propylene Glycol (and) Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

Appearance:Clear, viscous liquid with a mild characteristic odor

Solubility: Soluble in water and propylene glycol

pH Compatibility: Effective across pH 3–8

 Suggested Usage: 0.1% – 0.5%

PRO TIP

For the strongest preservation system, combine Liquid Germall Plus with good manufacturing practices: sanitize equipment, use deionized water, and add the preservative only during cool-down (below 40°C) to maintain full efficacy.
