Description

Kokum Butter, is prized for its essential fatty acid content. One of the most balanced, of all the botanicals, it is the perfect addition to all of your bath and body lotions, creams and butter blends.

Kokum Butter is obtained from the fruit of the kokum, or “kokam,” tree (Garcinia indica), grown in the central east region of India. A butter is extracted from the fruit kernels and further processed and refined to obtain an off-white butter of mild odor, suitable for cosmetics and toiletries. Its triglyceride composition is uniform, and consists of up to 80% of stearic-oleic-stearic (SOS) triglycerides. It is solid at room temperature but slowly melts on contact with the skin, producing a non-oily and non-greasy emolliency, making it ideal for lipsticks and balms.

Kokum Butter is one of the hardest of the natural butters, with a complex oleic, palmitic, and stearic acid content, it’s a great addition to products where you’d like to reduce, or avoid, straight fatty acids for better label appeal.

It is the most stable and hard vegetable butter known. Kokum butter is also known for its high levels of vitamin E and antioxidants. It has a high oxidative stability and known to be a high quality moisturizer.

Kokum Butter is well known for it’s emollient, and regenerative properties making it one of the best choices for damaged skin preparations. One of the most useful butters for inflamed skin preparations and enhanced barrier formation due to the high level of stearic-oleic fatty acids.

In formulation, kokum butter is high enough in fatty acids to improve emulsion stability and offer thickness without stiffness. Perfect for all of your bath and body products.

In hair care, Kokum Butter can help to provide essential nutrients to the follicle and scalp, without weighing down the hair.
