Description
Ferulic acid is a phenolic antioxidant primarily used in anti-aging skin care products. It’s naturally found in the cell walls of plants such as wheat, rice, peanuts, oranges and apples. It is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free-radical damage from pollution, ultraviolet light, or infrared radiation, all of which accelerate skin aging. It neutralizes the molecules that are formed that if left alone will continue to damage tissues.
Research has shown that Ferulic acid provides antioxidant benefits to skin while enhancing the stability and efficacy of vitamins C and E in topical applications. It also helps defend skin against environmental damage and neutralizes free radicals for visible aging benefits. It is also thought to protect against some sun damage, as well as assisting in skin’s regeneration functions to tackle skin that has already been over-exposed.
