Description
Decyl Glucoside is a natural, non-ionic surfactant derived from renewable plant-based raw materials, a gentle fusion of fatty alcohols from coconut (C8–C16) and glucose from sugar or starch. This combination produces a mild, eco-friendly cleanser ideal for all foaming and cleansing formulations including shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, baby products, and pet care.
Comparable to other Alkyl Polyglucosides such as Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside, and Lauryl Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside offers superior mildness and high performance, making it a favorite among natural formulators.
Performance & Compatibility
Decyl Glucoside produces exceptional, stable foam for a non-ionic surfactant, comparable to traditional anionics, but without the harshness. It’s gentle on skin and eyes, making it perfect for sensitive formulations.
For a creamier and smoother foam texture, combine with Cocamidopropyl Betaine or Foaming Apple, a pairing that enhances both foam feel and stability. It’s fully compatible with all surfactant types, so you can use it as a primary or co-surfactant in your formulations. When used as a co-surfactant, it can reduce the total active level required from other foaming agents, maintaining performance while improving mildness.

Natural polymers (e.g. Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Irish Moss/Carageenan)
-
Synthetic polymers (e.g. Carbomer 940)
Quick formulating guide:
-
Combine with other surfactants (e.g. Coco Betaine or Foaming Apple) for improved lather.
-
Add water-based additives and stir until uniform.
-
Adjust pH
