Description
Silk has been long treasured as an expensive material, It is commonly referred to as the princess of fibers, due its strength. The ancient Chinese were the first to cultivate silk, and it was at first considered to be a product that only the imperial family and dignitaries could wear and have access to. While today there aren’t quite the same societal restrictions on enjoying silk products, the value and perceived opulence of silk have persisted to the modern day. As silk has pervaded modern skincare formulations, it has also brought these longstanding connotations of opulence and extravagance with it.Hydrolyzed Silk Protein brings with it the refinement of a premium product and will offer the most glide, and silkiness, of all proteins / amino acids. Hydrolyzed silk protein obtained from natural silk ( silk noils from silk worm cocoon) Has excellent moisture binding properties & silky smooth feel. Hyrolysed silk protein aids in moisture retention due to its strong hygroscopic properties (silk is credited with the ability to retain 10,000 times its weight in water), resulting in optimum conditioning and increased strength. It Provides superior conditioning properties, making it ideal for natural conditioners, shampoos, and hair repairing systems. It aids hair fibers to improve elasticity, resiliency, and restore the moisture balance. The exceptional purity of Silk Protein, Hydrolyzed is shown by the clarity of its film and low ash content. Silk Protein, Hydrolyzed is useful in elegant hair and skin preparations for its excellent moisture binding properties, repair, and feel. In addition, this non-animal protein source is substantive to skin and hair and provides a protective barrier.Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, will add luster, body, and manageability to hair when used in hair care preparations. As an amphoteric protein, it is compatible with cationic, anionic, and non-ionic materials.

Our hydrolyzed silk protein is preserved with Preserved with benzylalcohol, sodium benzoate, and potassium sorbate
Processing Method: Obtained from Cocoons of the silkworm moth. Hydrolyzed silk protein is made by isolating silk thread from the cocoon and cleansing and degumming the fibers. The individual silk fiber is then wound with other silk fibers to create one long thread. The threads are then combed to remove noils which are then used in the production of hydrolyzed silk proteins through controlled hydrolysis.
Common Uses/Benefits
The silk extracts are so highly favoured in the beauty industry because of these two proteins – sericin and fibroin (which are built from 18 amino acids). The silk cocoons themselves are also popular, particularly in Asian skincare circles, for their beneficial properties, They are easily absorbed into the skin and boast the following benefits:
- Promotes cell repair regeneration
- May boost collagen levels, which leads to firmer skin
- Has anti-aging properties (by smoothing out wrinkles and scars on your skin)
- Is gentle and less abrasive than other types of exfoliants, and
- Can protect against sun damage, particularly that from UVB rays.
- Works especially well to add luster and shine, body and manageability to hair
- On the skin care it is known for its high moisture binding capacities providing a protective barrier effective for reducing transdermal water loss
- It is an amphoteric protein type and is compatible with cationic, anionic and non-ionic materials
